A heritage day on Penyengat Island, seat of the Riau-Lingga Sultanate: Sultan Riau Grand Mosque, Raja Ali Haji’s tomb and Tanjung Pinang’s gonggong seafood.
Penyengat is a small island off Tanjung Pinang with many relics of the Riau-Lingga Sultanate, including the Sultan Riau Grand Mosque, famous for the egg whites said to be used in its construction.
We cross from Batam to Tanjung Pinang, then take a pompong (wooden boat) to Penyengat.

Meet at Telaga Punggur port.
Ferry to Sri Bintan Pura port, Tanjung Pinang.
Pompong boat to Penyengat Island.
Penyengat tour: Sultan Riau Grand Mosque, tombs of Engku Putri Hamidah and Raja Ali Haji, and palace ruins.
Back to Tanjung Pinang for a seafood and gonggong lunch.
Old Town and Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva Temple (500 arhat statues).
Local souvenir shopping.
Afternoon ferry back to Batam.
