Overview

Jam Gadang and Sianok Canyon in Bukittinggi, Lake Maninjau via the 44 bends, Pagaruyung Palace, Lake Singkarak and the lakes and tea gardens of Alahan Panjang.

West Sumatra blends highlands, lakes and strong Minangkabau culture. Two nights in Bukittinggi for Jam Gadang, Sianok Canyon, the rumah gadang and Lake Maninjau, then one night in cool Alahan Panjang with lake and tea garden views.

The route runs one way (Padang, Bukittinggi, Batusangkar, Solok, Padang) to avoid backtracking. Groups wanting Harau Valley and Kelok 9 can add one extra day.

Itinerary

  1. Day 1 Padang – Anai Valley – Bukittinggi
    • Pick-up at Minangkabau International Airport (BIM).
    • Nasi Padang lunch.
    • Photo stop at Lembah Anai waterfall by the highway.
    • Padang Panjang: Minangkabau Cultural Documentation Centre (PDIKM), traditional houses and costumes.
    • Arrive in Bukittinggi, hotel check-in.
    • Evening at Jam Gadang, nasi kapau dinner.

  2. Day 2 Bukittinggi – Sianok Canyon – Maninjau
    • Breakfast at the hotel.
    • Panorama Park and the Japanese Tunnel overlooking Sianok Canyon.
    • Rumah Adat Baanjuang museum in Kinantan Park, a rumah gadang with rice barns.
    • Jam Gadang and Pasar Atas by day.
    • Lunch.
    • Drive to Lake Maninjau via the 44 bends, stop at Puncak Lawang.
    • Back to Bukittinggi for dinner.

  3. Day 3 Pagaruyung – Singkarak – Alahan Panjang
    • Breakfast and check-out.
    • Istana Basa Pagaruyung in Batusangkar, photos in Minang costume.

    • Lake Diatas and Lake Dibawah, tea gardens and highland farms.

  5. Standard twin / double sharing rooms. A single supplement applies for single rooms.
  6. Travellers must carry valid travel documents and look after their own belongings.
  7. Costs arising from delays or schedule changes by airlines or ferry operators are outside Serunai Travel’s responsibility.
Cancellation policy
  1. Cancellations must be sent in writing via WhatsApp or our official email.
  2. Deposits are non-refundable but can be moved to another date under the agreed terms.
  3. Tickets, hotels or attractions already issued follow each provider’s own policy.
  4. Cancellations due to force majeure (natural disasters, government policy, border closures) will be discussed together to find the best solution.
How to book
  1. Choose a package or share your plan. Pick a package on the website, or send us your own plan for a custom package.
  2. Consultation & quote. Our admin sends the final itinerary and price breakdown for your group size and dates.
  3. Down payment. Your booking is confirmed once the deposit reaches Serunai Travel’s official account. The balance follows the agreed schedule.
  4. Travel. You receive vouchers, meeting point details and your guide’s contact before departure.
