Getting to Singapore from Batam: ferries, documents and tips

Singapore is about an hour from Batam by ferry. Here is what to prepare before you cross.

Getting to Singapore from Batam: ferries, documents and tips

Batam is one of the easiest gateways to Singapore. Ferries leave from several Batam terminals and take about an hour.

Departure terminals

Batam Centre International Ferry Terminal is the most common choice, sailing to HarbourFront or Tanah Merah in Singapore. Ferries also run from Harbour Bay and Sekupang. Choose the terminal closest to your hotel and your destination in Singapore.

Documents

Bring a passport valid for at least six months. Indonesian citizens do not need a visa for short tourist visits. Before arrival, submit the SG Arrival Card online within three days of arriving.

Best time to go

Leave early to enjoy a full day. Avoid long weekends and school holidays for shorter immigration queues.
